Next season will see three out of four Mill Hill Village adult teams under new leadership

Mill Hill Village Cricket Club has confirmed team captains for the 2024 season.

Following last week’s announcement that Devraj Ray will take over as club captain from Dan Potter and skipper the 1st XI, the club has now confirmed who will lead the 2nd, 3rd and 4th XIs.

Pace bowler Shiban Sayed (pictured above) will captain the 2nd XI, taking over from James O’Sullivan, whose successful reign saw the team get promoted as champions in 2022 to Division 7B. That year, Sayed was voted player of the season by his teammates as he took 29 wickets and scored valuable middle-order runs. He joined Mill Hill Village in 2020 and has played more than 40 games for the club. A regular vice-captain, he has often stepped in for O'Sullivan to lead the 2s in the last couple of seasons.

Batsman Ken Shakoor, who joined the club in 2022, will take over as captain of the 3rd XI. In two seasons Shakoor has scored more than 500 runs for the Village. He takes over from Phil Smith, to free up our Director of Cricket and juniors coach to focus on other important club committee duties.

The only unchanged captain for 2024 is spinner Pryank Patel, who will continue to lead the 4th XI. The decade-long club veteran has scored more than 1,000 runs and taken 65 wickets in that time.

Mill Hill Village Cricket Club thanks the outgoing captains for all their efforts and congratulates the above quartet on their appointments. The club wishes them and their teams all the best for the season ahead.
