Members and supporters of Mill Hill Village Cricket Club have raised £550 to provide aid to children in rural Nepal.
Funds raised by the club were donated to Project Dikshana, an educational initiative led by four students from Kathmandu University School of Management, aiming to create meaningful learning experiences for young students in the hillside community of Palpa. The funds went towards a projector and stationery, among other items, at Shree Balkanya Bhagwati Basic School.
The fundraising initiative was the brainchild of Village member Silan Panthi, who was born and raised in Kathmandu.
Panthi, who moved to the UK in 2022 to study Electrical and Electronics Engineering and recently graduated with First Class Honours, said the project was important to him personally. “Project Dikshana is more than just a student initiative; it’s a way to give back to communities that reflect my own roots,” he said. “I believe that every child, regardless of their background, deserves access to learning, dignity, and opportunity. This project is my small step toward bridging that gap.”
After receiving the funds, Project Dikshana team leader Dipika Paudel said: “Together, we have shown these children that they matter, their dreams matter, and that the world believes in them.”
Mill Hill Village Cricket Club thanks those who helped raise £550 (100,000 NPR).
