Mill Hill Village Cricket Club has made history, claiming four titles in a single season.

Our 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI and 5th XI all won their respective divisions in the Herts Premier Cricket League this year.

The achievement builds on 2025's stunning effort, when all five adult league teams — our four Saturday XIs and our Sunday 1st XI — secured promotion.

This season also marked the first time we've fielded a 5th XI in the Herts league.

Our 4th XI had a solid campaign too, finishing third in Division 11 East.

In winning Division 4A, our 1st XI — captained by Devraj Ray — made it back-to-back titles. The 1s won 14 of their 17 fixtures.

Director of Cricket Phil Smith said: “Last year we were amazed at how successful the club was, with four promotions, including our 1st XI going up as champions — this was unprecedented. I didn’t think we’d match that, let alone beat it, but we’ve gone three better this year. Four divisional titles from our five Saturday adult teams is a staggering, totally unprecedented achievement. It’s a season like no other, and I don’t expect it to be repeated. I’ve been at the club for 40 years and never seen anything like it. It’s a massive step forward for the club, and I’m delighted for everyone here."

Our 2nd XI won 11 out of their 14 matches to come top of Division 6B.

The 3rd XI won an impressive 15 out of 17 games to come out on top of Division 10 East.

A newly formed 5th XI, captained by Matt Barrett, won Division 14 East, winning 12 out of 16 matches in their debut campaign.

Smith paid tribute to our five Saturday adult league captains, Ray, Jan Temori of the 2s, Ken Shakoor of the 3s, the 4s’ Pryank Patel and the 5th XI’s Matt Barrett.

“A massive thank you to all our captains, who do a tremendous job marshalling their troops — getting sides together, handling the admin and the issues that come with the role, and making sure Mill Hill Village is represented well from top to bottom. I want to thank Dev, Jan, Ken, Pryank and Matt personally for the job they’ve done.

“It’s also worth mentioning our 4th XI, the only Saturday adult side that didn’t go up — they finished third, which is creditable in itself. Their points haul, 387, would’ve been enough for promotion in most divisions, and in their equivalent Division 11 in West Herts, it would’ve been good enough for second place.”

Smith said: “We added the 5th XI for the first time this year, and I didn’t expect them to get promoted in their first season, playing pretty much half a team of juniors. The more juniors we can get playing adult cricket, the better — that’s what the junior section is there for, to feed the adult sides — and the 5th XI has taken a giant step in making that happen this year. Long may it continue.”
