Dan Potter has been named 1st XI players’ player of the season at MHVCC’s 2022 awards dinner.
The captain and opening batsman received the most votes from his teammates and collected the honour from MHVCC Treasurer and 1st XI vice-captain James Thompson (pictured above left with Potter) at an awards dinner on Saturday.
Potter also took home the highest run scorer honour across the club and took the most catches for a 1st XI outfield player with 12.
After a slowish start to the season, Potter shifted through the gears, scoring 505 runs at an average of 42.08 and a strike rate of 80.93, with a top score of 85 not out. He scored five 50s in 13 outings. With the ball in hand Potter also took 20 wickets at an average of 8.00 with a strike rate of 12.40.
MHVCC 1st XI were crowned champions of Division 5B in 2022, winning their last nine fixtures on the trot. As winners they jump to Division 4B for the 2023 season.
Potter said: “It’s great to have these evenings on a dank October night and have a crowd back. In terms of the year, I found a bit of form and got some runs, but more importantly it’s nice to see the team go up and actually we got loads of good performances from everyone. It was a really positive year.”
