The Development XI controlled proceedings for long periods against hosts Monken Hadley, who elected to bat first having won the toss. Tommy Smith (2-5) and George Leggett (3-13) proved to be real handfuls for the top order. The middle order built a reasonable platform before the tail was blown away by Femi Erhabor (2-23) and Andrew Godrey (2-40).
A solid start to the reply saw Michael Televantou (31) and Andrew Teague (23) put on 58 for the 1st wicket at a decent rate. The result never looked in doubt as Ayush Shah (17), Tommy Smith (24) and Kudzi Makopa (24) also chipped in with useful contributions. There were less than 10 runs needed and 6 wickets still in hand when the Village line up tried to implode. Losing a succession of wickets in foolhardy fashion, saw the ridiculous situation of scores being level with 1 run still needed. Thankfully Godders held his nerve and steered the Development team to a well earned win.
