Hexton CC, a one team Club, clearly had availability issues this week. They arrived at Burtonhole Lane with only 9 players. Even those who did make it, failed to give a decent account of themselves. A couple of dropped catches aside, the Village 1st XI were fairly ruthless in dismissing the visitors for just 62 runs and subsequently chasing down the paltry target inside 11 overs. Despite losing a couple of hours to rain and a reduced duration to 33 overs per side, the match was all over by 5pm.
With such a short format, there were few performances of note. 2 wickets fell to each all the four bowlers used. in reply Naz Asif was the one batsmen to lose his wicket but only after thrashing the Opposition openers for a quick fire 31.
Greater challenges lie ahead, almost certainly starting away at North Enfield next week. The game produced an excellent finish last year. Mill Hill Village lie 2nd in the leavgue after the first 3 games.
