Having been invited to bat first by visiting Hertingfordbury, it was a shaky start to the Village innings, with the home side being reduced to 76-4 in the 17th over. At which point, the Village took control of the match and dominated it from then on. Felix Charles and Majid Asif built a match altering partnership, scoring 53 runs a piece. Both were outscored by extras, which totalled 57, including an extraordinary 47 wides. It was this lack of control from the visitors support bowlers that allowed the Village to build a decent 261 total, despite 9 balls of the innings being unused.

The Village opening bowlers then put on a clear display of the benefits of herbal remedies. Both Saahil Mehra (3-31) and Lee Cara (1-37) were excellent and built immediate pressure on the Hertingfordbury top order. It was pressure that they could not cope with and wickets began to fall with regularity. The support from the Village fielders was also of high calibre, particularly the ground fielding and to a slightly lesser extent, the catching. The 8th wicket partnership became an annoyance for a while, as the score moved from 86-7 to 160-7 but the away side were really just batting for points. Once this partnership was broken, the end came swiftly, in the 41st over. The back-up bowlers did a decent job. Majid Asif capped his MOM performance with 3 wickets in a couple of tight spells. Naz Asif and Andrew Potter both turned in useful all round performances, chipping in with useful runs and wickets.

90 points secured on the day by the Village, as the 2s and 3s both had away victories wrapped up in time to see the denouement at the home of Village cricket.
