It was back to the 50 over format this week, which should have suited the Village, with it's stronger bowling unit but the reality was a bit different. The visitors Luton Town and Indians 3rd XI recovered from 45-4 to post 195 in 48 overs faced. The target was well within the Village compass but a handful of poor decisions by both batsman and the visiting umpire, cost the home side dearly. The Asif brothers both got into the 40s and tried to drag the 1st team over the line but the tail fell away and the Village ended up 19 runs short, despite having 9 overs left to bat.
A win or two is needed from the next couple of games, to ensure the Village don't get dragged into a last day relegation battle.
