The Village top order cashed in against an inexperienced weak Hemel Hemstead IIIs attack. Unusually Saahil Mehra (56) was first out of the stalls, opening the innings with Piers Jenkins (37) and the pair set the platform for a big total with an opening stand of 74. Marcus Cara bullied the bowlers in his usual fashion, top scoring with 81. Naz Asif (59) and Daniel Potter (33) also helped themselves to a few, on the way to huge team total of 361 including 40 wides.
361 was always far too many and the 2nd innings felt like going through the motions. Only 38.2 overs were needed to dismiss the dispirited opposition. Daniel Potter ended up with the best figures of 3-11, despite only bowling 3 overs at the end.
Tougher challenges lie ahead.
