The Village made a solid start while batting first and stayed in control of the game pretty much throughout. Roshan Dias (58) promoted from the 3rd XI showed he had more than enough in his game to score runs at this level. Naz Asif returned to some form and rode his luck contributing 57 in an opening partnership of 124. A minor collapse to 158-6 was settled by the lower middle order, particularly Anand Kumar (33), another call up from a lower side, who batted well. 220 looked to be enough but the Village left 8 overs unused after being bowled out in 45 overs.
It proved to be plenty as Flamstead's batting looked weak. The horse and his fat jockey knocked out the top and middle order in quick time. Saahil (3-31) and Dave Overton (3-53), leaving the opposition 62-7 after 21 overs.
A late and frustrating rally by the tail delayed things considerably as concentration was lost and catches dropped as the ball started to fly around off edges and occasional lucky hits. Roshan showed he also had something to offer with the ball. His liquorice allsorts spin bowling bought a few at the death with 3-41 in 4 overs.
A valuable 30 points that puts the Village right back in contention for promotion.
