The Village restricted Shenley to 212, which was actually a fine recovery from 134-7 after 40 overs. Majid Asif went for only 15 runs from his 10 overs and Saahil Mehra (2-31) was the only bowler to pick up more than one wicket. The final overs shared about among the part timers were pretty costly. Nevertheless the target was very achievable.
The ever consistent Danny Potter (77) got the innings off to a solid start with Anand Kumar (29) and at 96-1 after 30 overs, the platform was laid. However acceleration proved difficult and wickets began to fall at regular intervals. The chase fell 22 runs short and the Village were left to rue the final overs of their bowling innings, where this one slipped away.
