Another 200+ run chase reached with ease

The 1st XI were at home against Hemel Hempstead Town III and with the opposition captain calling incorrectly the Village decided to use the conditions and have a bowl on a drying strip.

Saahil Mehra & Marcus Cara would open the bowling and both bowled well upfront as the opposition never got away from the Village, with Marcus picking up the first wicket. Lee Cara & Majid Asif were the change bowlers but they were replaced fairly swiftly as Anand Kumar and Andy Potter came on with Andy bowling particulary well as he would end the innings with 3 wickets and conceivable on another day could have had a few more had it not been for some poor fielding. George Leggett had a brief spell before Majid came back on to finish his spell and he would pick up a wicket for his endeavors. Saahil would replace Andy and he would pick up 2 wickets at the end of the innings as Hemel posted a decent total of 206-7 off their allotted 50 overs.

Danny Potter and Andy Potter opened the innings looking to continue their good scoring run of 2 century stands in the 2 previous games but Andy would be dismissed early. Majid Asif was the number 3 batsman and with Danny were patient in their approach as they serenely pushed the score along. The pair would put on 79 for the 2nd wicket in 22 overs before Majid was stumped to bring Marcus to the crease. He was watchful early on but with Danny continued the good work and stifled the attack as they lasted 21 overs. Danny would pass 50 for the 3rd successive game and it looked like a close finish would ensue as the scores were very similar to that of the Hemel innings throughout the run chase. Marcus would also pass 50 before he bludgeoned the opening bowler in his last over with 3 6's to take the Village to the brink of victory before he was caught and bowled with the openers last ball for 78 in just 50 balls looking to score a boundary to seal the win. This would be left to skipper Danny who ended up 82 not out with Felix Charles at the other end not facing a ball.

Another impressive run chase with plenty of overs to spare but the 1st XI will need to improve their fielding in the coming weeks to ensure they are not having to chase scores in excess of 200 every week. All in all another good performance as the Village go marching on.
