Where have I heard that before?

The Village 1st XI celebrated securing the Division 7 title with 2 games to spare, following another emphatic victory. Visiting Great Gaddesden and losing the toss, the Village bowled first and took 47.5 overs to dismiss the hosts, by which time the Gaddesden score had reached 176. Partnerships failed to develop with 30 being the highest of the innings. Dave Overton took 5-39 from 16.5 overs, returning to dismiss top scorer Mackay (49) when the score had reached a promising 135-4 and then to blow away the tail. On a decent track and a fast scoring outfield, the total always looked sub-par and well within reach for the powerful Village batting line up.

So it proved, as the Village innings rattled along at a good pace throughout and the chase was complete in the 28th over. 5 wickets were lost along the way but all the batsmen chipped in, with the most significant contributions coming from Marcus Cara (45), Felix Charles (36*) and Ben Dawson (28*). The title was confirmed later that evening when other results were reported and closest rivals, Holtwhite Trinibis had failed to secure a victory. Mill Hill Village have now achieved four successive promotions and three divisional titles in those four years. Long may the success continue.
