County Hall IIs turned up with just 8 men. Perhaps as a result of this, they batted with application and circumspection.. At 126-1, a good total seemed possible, although the rate was always slow. This score was only brought up in the 39th over. MHV were sluggish in the field and understandably perhaps a little complacent and struggled to retain focus against the slow scoring. The visitors didn't have a lot of batting after the top 3, so once the stubborn top order had perished trying to pick up the rate, there was little to hurt the Village bowling. County Hall did well to bat out their full 53 overs but amassed an inadequate total of 162-6. The pick of the Village bowlers were Andrew Brazill (3-39) and his spin twin for the day Dave Overton (3-42).
In reply, Dan Potter's consistent season continued, as he chipped in yet again with 42. Majid Asif was elevated to No.3 for the day and showed how much under utilised talent exists in the middle and lower order of the Village line up. After a shaky and streaky start, he settled down and bludgeoned his way to 82 not out. The chase rattled along at well above 6 runs per over and was done and dusted in just the 25th over of the innings. A 7 wicket win, which underlined the Village superiorty in the Division once again. Although beating 8 men easily is not quite the challenge the side is looking for.
