After winning the toss, Lawrence Bird could only choose to bat with only 9 players at the ground. After losing the customary early wicket, Matin and Naz but on 59 to take us to 71-1. Three quick wickets followed and at 82-4 we were struggling. Pete and Suleman then put on a useful partnership, with Pete trying to take the most of his opportunities after being dropped twice. Unfortunately he fell victim to a sharp caught and bowled after which the Village collapsed from 123-4 to 140 all out.
We then turned around straight away and were down to 10 men after Suleman decided he would rather get cigarettes than field for 7 overs. However Naz struck with the fourth ball of the innings to give us the ideal start. Unfortunately that was as good as it got, with only Naz, Maz and Dan Penny offering any element of control, meaning there were easy runs to be had and the opposition chased the score down for the loss of just 2 wickets.
This was easily our poorest fielding performance of the season with ground fielding being no better than apalling. Our performance must improve by next week or we will find ourselves falling down the table rapidly
