Tewin 2's were next up for the Village 3's at the Village, I nice change from our previous 3 fixtures on the road.
Tewin won the toss and stuck the Village in, something the skipper was not upset about.
James Thompson (7) and George Downes (20) started the innings off for the Village and were going nicely when James was bowled by one that kept low. That brought Phil Smith (78) to the crease and he went about his business steadily making the most of some friendly bowling. George was next to depart being trapped LBW which brought Marcus Cara (105) to the crease. The pair of them were in fluent form and were finding the boundary with consummate ease. Both brought up 50's with Marcus going on to reach 3 figures after four 6's in a row before being stumped attempting the 5th off the same over. Matt Hawkes (51) was next in and he continued where Marcus had left off by managing to find the boundary on numerous occasions. Phil was next out bowled and then Matt followed shortly after bringing up his half century. Tommy Smith (3), George Leggett (7*) and Dan Penny (13*) also had an opportunity to bat before after reaching 301 the skipper decided to declare after 38 overs.
Tommy Smith (0-18) and George Leggett (1-14) opened up the bowling with George picking up the first wicket thanks to a catch at gully from Madji Asif. The youngsters had started nicely and at 10 overs the oppo were 39-1. Dan Penny (7-16) then replaced Tommy and started to rip into the Tewin's batsman and in his 2nd over picked up a wicket courtesy of a nick behind to Farzan Dulker Nain. James Thompson (2-30) replaced George at the other end and he also picked up a wicket in his 2nd over trapping their number 4 batsman plumb LBW. Both Dan and James then in the 3rd overs respectively picked up further wickets to leave the oppo 59-5 off 17 overs. Dan spearheaded the attack and picked up further wickets including 2 in one over, one of which was a sharp caught and bowled chance and a wicket maiden. It was left to Dan to finish off the innings with 2 further wickets to cap off an impressive bowling performance from the Village.
Excellent win then with notably contributions from Phil Smith, Marcus Cara, Matt Hawkes, Dan Penny and James Thompson.
