Dismal performance see 3's lose

The 3's were up against Cheshunt 2's at home on a warm day at the Village. The 3's had the bonus of being on the front pitch and using the newly purchased rope.

The Chestnut skipper lost the toss and the Village decided to have a bat.

James Thompson (0) and George Downes (2) started the innings and in the 3rd over the oppo's skipper had bowled James off his pads. That brought Matt Hawkes (0) to the crease and 2 balls later he had followed the skipper as he was caught. Next out was George chipping one straight to mid on and Joe Sheridan (0) was next in and soon followed the rest caught at gully leaving the Village a staggering 3 for 4. Dan Penny (0) and Farzan Dulker Nain (11) had the task of trying to rebuild the innings but Dan also fell victim to the swinging ball and was bowled. Farzan went soon after caught which brought Chalky Cara (0) and George Leggett (11*) to the crease. George looked solid and manage to get some runs including a couple of fours. Chalky was then bowled which brought Tommy Smith (3) to the crease who tried to stay with George before being bowled. Andrew Godfrey (4) was next in but was out caught leaving just Femi Erhabor (0) to join George at the crease. Unfortunately he was also bowled and the Village had been bowled out for a dismal 44.

Cheshunt's openers were in no mood to hang about and managed to easily get the victory target within 6 overs. George Leggett (0-12), Andrew Godfrey (0-14), Tommy Smith (0-10) and Matt Hawkes (0-8) had the thankless task of trying to pick up a few Chestnut wickets on the way but alas it wasn't to be.

A dismal performance all round against a swinging ball with only George Leggett providing any sort of resistance. A much better performance is expected next week.
