The Village 3's were at home against Stevenage V on a warm day.
The Stevenage skipper won the toss and decided to bat.
Andrew Godfrey (4-31) and George Leggett (1-5) opened the bowling and were quickly into their stride. Both took wickets with George's solitary wicket coming courtesy of a caught behind by James Thompson, although George had to go off after his 3rd over with a bad back. Andrew's wickets were all catches with a superb catch from James Samarasinghe at point, another to JT behind the stumps and regulation catches for Matt Hawkes and George Downes. Chalky Cara (2-18) took over from George and he added control at one end as well as picking up some wickets with one bowled and the other caught by Joe Sheridan. Dan Penny (3-32) replaced Andrew and managed to take 3 wickets, from two catches, again one to JT and another excellent catch by Andrew Godfrey and the last wicket to fall bowling the number 11 to leave Stevenage 96 all out.
Piers Jenkins (0) and George Downes (25*) opened the batting for the Village. Piers was out first ball of the innings somehow missing a half pitch ball which hit middle stump, not a good start for the run chase! Joe Sheridan (65*) came to the crease to join George and he went about knocking off the total in quick fashion. Joe finding the boundary on 13 occasions during his impressive knock to bring up his 2nd half century of the season. George was more watchful but managed to find the fence 4 times and find the singles to get Joe on strike. Joe hit the winning runs with a straight 6 over the bowlers head to cap off an easy victory in the end.
Great all round performance with the majority of the Village line up contributing in some way. Special mentions to Andrew Godfrey for his 4 wickets and Joe Sheridan for his 65*. Also a mention to the fielding of the Village team with all catches being taken during the innings which contributed to a thoroughly complete performance. Two wins in a row has seen us climb from near the bottom to the middle of the table and we will be looking to push on for the rest of the season.
