Excellent all round display seals win

The 3's visited idyllic Tewin for the first of the remaining limited overs matches.

Tewin won the toss and they decided to bat.

Andrew Godfrey (0-12) and Tommy Smith (2-13) opened the bowling for the Village and within his first couple of overs Tommy had picked up the first of his wickets with one that kept low to bowl the Tewin number 2. James Thompson (0-28) and George Leggett (0-18) replaced the openers and both bowled nicely restricting the batsman. The Tewin numbers 1 & 3 were proving stubborn but were not really troubling the score. Dave Knight (0-25) and Chalky Cara (6-37) then replaced George and James and kept the batsman quiet. The Tewin total had reached 100 with their number 1 batsman passing his fifty and it looked as though the Village may be chasing a decent total. Chalky had other ideas and was next to strike bowling the number 3. Then a flurry of wickets with Chalky getting his 2nd after a catch by James Thompson and 2 runs out courtesy of some good fielding by both Andrew Godfrey and Pete Jaffe. Tommy had come back on to replace Dave and he had his 2nd bowling another Tewin batsman. It was left to Chalky to take the remaining 4 wickets with an LBW and 3 more catches, one for George Downes and 2 for Priyan Perera, leaving Tewin all out for 142 in their 45 overs.

Piers Jenkins (7) and James Thompson (60*) opened the batting for the Village who needed about 3 an over to secure victory. Both started steadily and were watchful of the Tewin opening bowlers and were able to rotate the strike and pick up the odd boundary. Piers was first to go bowled which brought Pete Jaffe (12) to the crease and he was looking good pulling nicely to find his first boundary but he was then next man to fall caught and bowled. Farzan Dulker Nain (56*) was next in to join the skipper and was told to take his time and stay in . The skipper was now in and looking solid at the crease and was able to find the boundary from the bad balls and keep out the good ones. Farzan began to grow in confidence and started to free his arms and was able to find the boundary as well which meant the Village run rate was rising and the victory target was getting ever smaller. At drinks the Village had reached 87-2 and were looking odds on to win the game. The 50 partnership came up and then the 100 was up leaving only 43 to win. Farzan then accelerated and was hitting the ball to all parts including a couple of 6's to bring the victory in sight. The skipper bought up his 50 and shortly after Farzan did the same with another trademark boundary. It was left to the skipper to seal victory with consecutive boundaries to complete an impressive win.

An excellent all round performance to bring the Village the win. All the bowlers were tidy with Chalky Cara getting the rewards claiming 6 wickets helped with the fielding with 4 out of 4 catches taken and 2 run outs. James Thompson and Farzan both batted nicely to bring up their fifties with the skipper carrying his bat and sealing the win.
