The 3's faced Ware 2's at home in the last game of the season.
With the skipper AWOL Dan Penny took the reigns and the Village were asked to bat.
Piers Jenkins (22) and George Downes (0) opened and George was soon gone bowled for a duck. James Samarasinghe (21) joined Piers at the crease and by all accounts batted very nicely with Piers. Piers and James were both out in their 20's and Graham Leggett (11*) was going nicely before he injured himself doing the ligaments in his knee. Farzan Dulker Nain (4) did what he has being doing recently by smashing a boundary and then getting out the next ball. Dan Penny (1) was in and out which brought both Dave Knight (13) and Chalky Cara (22) at the crease. Chalky was smashing it to all parts but he was bowled and Dave was caught leaving the youngsters at the end. Tommy Smith (5) and George Leggett (11*) had a bit of fun at the end of the innings with George scoring a couple of boundaries before Tommy fell to leave the Village all out for 117.
Tommy Smith (1-21) and George Leggett (0-16) opened the bowling and Tommy took the first wicket courtesy of another catch at mid on from George Downes. Dan Penny (1-17) and Chalky Cara (0-32) were next change and Dan picked up a wicket bowling the number 3 bat. Dave Knight (2-11) and George Downes (0-9) were next up and Dave managed to pick up 2 wickets both bowled with one getting the number 1 bat who had got 50 odd. In the end it was a comfortable chase for Ware on a difficult pitch to bat.
I blame the skipper for this defeat.
