Dismal batting display costs the 3's

The 3's were at home against Bushey 3's on a warm day.

The skipper won the toss and decided to have a bat.

Roshan Dias (50) and Pete Jaffe (17) opened the batting for the Village and got the innings off to a good start with the first over going for 9 runs. They continued the good work and were 35-0 after 7 overs, before Pete was adjudged LBW to bring James Thompson (0) to the crease but he went in the same over as he was bowled. Paul Simpson (0) was then next in and he was unlucky to be bowled as the ball trickled back onto his stumps. Farzan Dulker Nain (0) was next in and he was also bowled to bring Gayan Perera (0) to the crease but he didn't last long and was bowled round his legs to leave the Village innings in tatters at 44-5. George Leggett (3) was next in to try and stay with Roshan but the pair only put on 10 before George was caught at mid on. Mathan Mahalingam (4) was next in and he and Roshan put on 30 runs, with Roshan reaching his fifty before Mathan was bowled. Tommy Smith (1) was next man in but Roshan was next man out trying to force the pace and was caught at mid on. Tommy then soon followed as he was bowled to leave Chalky Cara (13) and Dave Knight (4*) as the last men in for the Village. Chalky managed to get the Village score over 100 but he was bowled and the Village innings had ended on 106 all out.

George Leggett (1-30) and Tommy Smith (1-7) opened the bowling and were very tight in the opening 6 overs. George was first to strike trapping the number 2 batsman for Bushey LBW before Tommy in the next over bowled the number 1 batsman to leave the opposition 13-2. Unfortunately that was as good as it got as Bushey eased to victory in the 24th over. Mathan Mahalingam (0-12), Roshan Dias (0-26), Chalky Cara (0-10), Dave Knight (0-4) and Gayan Perera (1-17) were the other bowlers used with only Gayan picking up a wicket courtesy of Farzan Dulker Nain stumping the number 3 batsman who had already past 50.

A pitiful performance with the bat saw the Village collapse after a decent opening partnership and Roshan Dias' 50. At one point the impossible may have been on after reducing Bushey to 13-2 but the damage had been done with the bat and the Village had put in their worst performance of the season.
