Dismal display sees us pick up just 2 points

The 3's were up against Frogmore 2's on a cloudy day with rain forecast later in the afternoon.

The skipper lost the toss and the Village were asked to bat.

James Thompson (0) and Farzan Dulker Nain (0) opened for the Village but the skipper only lasted 2 balls as he was bowled in the first over. before Farzan was caught behind in the very next over. Phil Smith (14) and Matt Hawkes (29) were the next in and looked to steady the innings and both were going well with Hawkesy finding the boundary with a few straight drives and Smudge clipping a couple of boundaries nicely off his legs. As the Village approached 50, Hawkesy tried another lofted drive but only managed to pick out the fielder at long on who he was unaware had moved back. Inthikhab Mazeez (20) joined Smudge at the crease but the next over saw Smudge dismissed as he was bowled. Mohamed Salahudeen (1) was next in but he did not last long as he was bowled which brought Bilal Baree (0) in but he was soon out as he was caught to leave the Village 47-6. Andrew Godfrey then joined Inthi at the crease and after hitting a couple of boundaries he was bounced out as he spooned one up to slip. Mathan Mahalingam then joined Inthi and the pair put on 31 before Inthi top edged one to the keeper trying to sweep. Tommy Smith (0) was next in but he was caught which left Chalky Cara (9) as the last man. He hit a couple of boundaries before he was bowled as the Village innings had finished on 106 all out.

Andrew Godfrey (0-15) and Tommy Smith (0-16) opened the bowling but the Frogmore batsman were keen to get a move on with worse weather to come. Matt Hawkes (0-18) bowled nicely but he could not find a breakthrough although if the skipper had held onto a chance a slip and if the umpire had been watching when he deflected a shot onto the stumps to run out a batsman he might have had a few. The batsman were smashing the ball to all parts in the damp conditions and with steady rain it was tough going for the Village. Mathan Mahalingam (0-10), Bilal Baree (0-19) & Chalky Cara (0-20) also bowled but the opposition sauntered to victory in over 16 overs.

A miserable performance with the bat cost us as wickets regularly fell with no one really showing much fight in a dismal batting display which gave the bowlers no chance. Much to improve on for next Saturday's game against St Albans
