3s hampered by the weather

The 3rd XIs first home game of the season was against Old Haberdashers II. The opposition won the toss and decided to have a bat on a cloudy day with drizzle throughout the game.

Andrew Godfrey (1-12) and Alam Khan (2-9) started the bowling and Godders struck in his first over as he got one to swing back between the batsman's bat and pads to bowl him. Alam would follow suit as he also got a wicket in his first over as he bowled the number 2 batsman to leave Old Haberdashers 4-2 after 2 overs. Alam would strike again in his 2nd over as he trapped the number 3 batsman LBW and then in the 6th over the number 4 and 5 batsman attempted a run but the skipper coming round from mid wicket picked up the ball and threw down the stumps at the non-strikers end, 13-4. A small partnership ensued between the number 5 & 6 batsmen for Old Haberdashers but this was broken when Inthi Mazeez (2-7) replacing Godders bowled the number 6. He would get another in his next over the same way to leave the opposition 35-6. Musthaq Sameem (1-8) making his debut replaced Alam at the far end and bowled with decent pace to worry the batsman and would have picked up a few more wickets had catches not been dropped. He did pick up the last wicket to fall as he bowled the number 7 for 2. Mohamed Salahudeen (0-2) and Sanket Shah (0-7) came on to replace Inthi and Musthaq but the persistent rain would put pay to any chance of a Village victory.

A very good performance first up for the Village as everyone bowled nicely but unfortunately the weather was always the winner on the day but we will take encouragement from the performance.
