Despite only having 10 players and the weather forecast due to be sweltering, the skipper won the toss and elected to field having found out the opposition only had 9 players.
After 10 overs we only had the one breakthrough with Dan Penny beating the flailing defensive shot of the opening batsmen leaving them 19-1. At this point the 1st team had their opposition 24-6, so were looking like finishing early. However the 3rd team weren't to be usurped. Ajay and Naz picked up the next 7 wickets (6 bowled and 1 LBW)for a paltry 13 runs, embarassing the opposition to be all out for 32. Good, straight bowling was the key, with all 8 wickets picked up by balls hitting the stumps.
We turned around quickly and Matin and Rob Stirrup knocked off the runs in 3.5 overs, ending the game at 3pm!
Whilst we were happy to pick up the 30 points, we hope the strength of the opposition will pick up, in order to make sure everyone gets a game.
We moved up to 3rd in the league with this result and with Reed being 78 all out, we will hope to pick up more points next week.
