A poor batting performance after Naz's hat-trick

Yet again we managed to get a game of cricket on despite the inclement weather. After losing the toss and being asked to field, Dan Penny picked up a couple of wickets both bowled. A solid partnership then followed with the young number 4 making 50.

Once the partnership was broken we picked up fairly regular wickets, but a number of dropped catches enabled the Welwyn side to get maximum batting points. Naz wrapped up things with the tail picking up the first 3rd team hat-trick in my tenure as skipper (1 bowled, 2 caught). Welwyn finished on 190 all out which was going to be tough to chase at 4 an over from the start.

Rob and Matin opened and with Matin being bowled with the first delivery of the innings, things were already off to a bad start. Rob then tried to drop anchor, but found scoring difficult and after 11 overs had only made 2. Piers came and went (1) and only Joe was able to find any rhythm at the start of the innings. At 49-5 the writing was on the wall, but a counter attach by Naz got us back into it, scoring 48 in quick time, however with wickets falling regularly at the other end (including Dan Penny quacking out) there was too much reliance on Naz to score the runs and he holed out before Chalky then followed leaving us 122 all out.

A decent bowling performance with poor fielding and batting leaves us third, but with Bushey being rained off it was a chance missed to close the gap
