Junior season returns with revamped training schedule

Junior season returns with revamped training schedule

MHVCC Reporters27 Mar - 14:32

Outdoor training begins at Burtonhole Lane in mid-April, with sessions split across three days by age group

Junior cricketers at Mill Hill Village Cricket Club will return to action in April, with a revamped training schedule in place for the 2026 season.

The club is pleased to confirm that outdoor sessions will begin at our Burtonhole Lane ground in mid-April following the final indoor training this week, with programmes running for 13 consecutive weeks until mid-July.

The sessions start after a successful indoor winter training programme at Mill Hill School.

This season, training will be split across different days to better match age groups and ability levels. Boys and girls are welcome.

:: Soft ball sessions for younger players in school years 1 to 3 (and possibly year 4) will take place on Sunday mornings from April 19, 11am-12.15pm
Suitable for anyone new or relatively new to cricket
:: Hard ball development sessions for years 4, 5 and 6 will run on Friday evenings from April 17, between 6.30pm-8pm
For those with some experience of cricket and are comfortable taking part in nets and drills with a hard cricket ball
:: Hard ball sessions for under 12s-U14s, also train on Friday evenings - those in years 6, 7, 8 and 9. 6.30pm-8pm, from April 17. Final session July 10
For experienced junior match players competing in U13 (A and B teams) and/or U14s.
:: Our oldest junior cohort, years 9, 10, 11 and above, are invited to train on Wednesdays, from April 15. 5pm-6.30pm. Final session July 8.
Academy-style sessions, primarily nets based, led by senior players from our adult 1st XI

U14s are welcome to attend either Wednesdays or Fridays.

A Mill Hill Village Cricket Club spokesman said the new structure “allows players to develop in the right environment for their age and ability, while keeping the sessions enjoyable and inclusive for everyone involved.”

All programmes run for 13 consecutive weeks, lasting until the second week of July.

Matches are scheduled to begin on April 27 and will continue throughout the season, with most teams playing weekly fixtures organised through the Middlesex Junior Cricket Association.

Annual junior membership fees remain unchanged at £150 for match-playing members and £100 for non-match players.

The club will continue to use the ClubSports365 app for registrations, payments and team management, alongside WhatsApp groups for communication.

Payment can also be made using the following details:
