A bad day at the office...

After winning the toss, Downsey chose to bat on a wicket that for the most part was unknown. Unfortunately the decision massively backfired and at 3-2, with both the prior week's centurion, Zaf, and the only Ugandan to ever play for the Village, H, back in the hut in successive balls, things were not looking great. At 50-5 things were not looking any better, with only Johnny Butt able to occupy the crease, lasting an impressive 11 overs while wickets fell around him.

A cameo of 25 from Steve Pulen in an elevated position of number 6 gave the scoreboard some credibility and useful contributions from Lee Crocker and Birju got the Village to 145 all out.

Unfortunately the bowling wasn't too much better with Rohan taking a good caught and bowled and Downsey taking a fully undeserved wicket (H's words). Hatfield Crusaders thus managed to chase down the total for the loss of just three wickets.

A poor performance all round which barely merited the 9 points gained, but leaves the Village 21 points off the pace after 2 games.
