Mill Hill Village Cricket Club’s 1st XI have won promotion from the Saracens Herts Premier Cricket League’s Division 4B with two games to play.

Despite going down to a disappointing home defeat by 85 runs against Preston CC 2nd XI on Saturday, the 1s are assured of promotion and can win the title if they secure just six points from their remaining two games.

Club Captain Devraj Ray said: “It's been a great season for us, having come up a division from last year and dominated the league. The key has been providing support to our match winners, so it feels like a real team effort.

“Team spirit has been phenomenal throughout, and it seems to be seeping through the club, proven by all four Saturday league XIs either pushing for promotion or having already secured it. What a season it's been for the Village! Six more points from our last two games will bring us the league title, and we couldn't be prouder."

Our 4th XI is also celebrating promotion from Division 12 East. Currently in second place, the 4s, captained by Ken Shakoor, have won 10 games and lost just once this season. They sit in second place, one point behind Old Albanian CC 3rd XI, with one to play.

Our 2nd XI, captained by Hamdard Jan Temori, need one more win to be sure of going up while our 3rd XI, skippered by Pryank Patel, need to win both remaining matches to be sure of promotion. Both teams are currently in second place in their respective divisions.

Ray as now skippered the side to successive promotions since taking over the captaincy. A side captained by Ray will take on an XI selected by Club President Piers Jenkins on President's Day on Sunday, August 24 at our Burtonhole Lane home (1pm start.)

The 1s will be hoping to seal the title against Livestock Green 2nd XI at home on August 30. They finish the season away at Reed CC 2nd XI.
